Why Birds?

There's something magical about birds that has captivated humans for centuries. Perhaps it's their freedom of flight, their melodious songs, their stunning plumage, or their remarkable behaviors. Each bird—from the tiny hummingbird to the majestic eagle—carries a unique story worth telling.

Birds connect us to the natural world in ways few other creatures can. They're indicators of environmental health, bearers of seasons, and constant reminders of nature's ingenuity. Through Wingspective I hope to share these stories and inspire a deeper connection between you and our feathered friends.

My Birding Journey

My fascination with birds began when I was in class 6, after I first heard about the great ornithologist Shri Kiran Purandare Sir (Kika). I was truly inspired by his vast knowledge of birds and wildlife, and his unique skill for mimicking bird sounds amazed me. Later, I tried to do the same-and yes, I learned it! Since then, I've been observing the birds around me, trying to replicate their sounds and learning more about them. Bird watching soon became my hobby.

In class 12, I came across Kika’s story again in my English textbook. It was very insightful, and that’s when I thought: why not share what I observe and learn?
